Retirada (2018–ongoing) is a site-specific sculpture made from plaster and grasses, sited along a hunter’s path near Casa Tiexco.
The word ‘retirada’ means ‘retreat’ in Spanish — a fitting title for a work that offers quiet resistance and sanctuary within the landscape.
Originally conceived as a natural ‘worry doll’, the sculpture has evolved through time and weather — now a single rounded form with an opening that shelters insects and small creatures.
Temporary by nature, it stands as a gentle presence where human activity meets the wild.
