Laura Williams is a Bristol-based artist whose practice centres on long-term site-responsive projects, alongside painting and drawing. Working between Bristol and rural Catalonia, she develops work through repeated visits to place, allowing landscape, season and materials to shape each project.
Her work begins with observation. Time spent in a place informs each project, whether she is working with locally gathered materials or introducing sculptural interventions that invite a different reading of the landscape. As weather, seasonal change and the behaviour of materials alter the work, each return builds upon the last. Rather than beginning with a predetermined outcome, she allows projects to develop through curiosity, patience and careful attention.
Painting and drawing are integral to this process. They provide a space to look closely, test ideas and allow new directions to emerge.
